Nothing represents American popular culture like a classic Ford Mustang. From teenage girls looking for a man magnet on wheels to middle aged men trying to make up for their hair loss, everybody loves a Mustang. The growl of the engine, the elegant exterior, and the sheer excitement of being behind the wheel are unmatched by any modern car. A popular classic car like the Ford Mustang is, however, not just a toy; it's a valuable investment. If properly maintained, the car will never depreciate and will in fact grow in value.

Since 1981, Bob Oswalt has restored classic Ford Mustangs in his shop at 701 East Church Street in Leesville, SC. His shop is one of the few in the country to specialize in quality Mustang work, from tuneups to full show restoration. He is known throughout the Southeast as one of the most knowledgeable and respected restorers. His expertise includes body and paint work and upholstery as well as the more common mechanical areas. Bob has transformed the most battered and worn Mustang bodies into sleek, show-worthy works of art. His work has won many awards.

Now, he has broadened his business to allow him to focus on buying and selling these pieces of the American past while minimizing his restoration work. He also sells replacement parts, including some which are rare or obsolete, for classic Mustangs and other Ford products. Most of his inventory is of orginal Ford manufacture, but some parts which are no longer available are replicas certified by the National Mustang Club. He has served customers in Sweden, Germany, and the Netherlands as well as throughout the United States.

He also appraises cars for insurance companies and banks, and gives estimates on restoration costs to private customers.

Bob credits the increasing interest in classic Mustangs to the existence and growth of Mustang Clubs around the country. He has served in many offices within the area club, and is a past Certified Gold Card National Judge.
